Fitna The Movie: Stupid and Disgusting

_21410_geert_wilders.jpg Fitna is a controversial short movie produced by a controverisal Dutch politician Geert Wilders. It was released on the internet on March 27, 2008.

As expected, the movie has been creating a histerical protest in the Muslim world. In Indonesia, Islamic organizations have made strong statements on the movie and its creator Geert Wilders. They ban the movie and point their fingers at Geert Wilders to be the guilty one.

The Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhono has supported public opinion by banning the movie in Indonesia.

I have seen the movie on YouTube and I have to say that the movie is cheap. I have to say Geert Wilders is not as smart as I thought he was. The movie is simply stupid and disgusting.

There two things that Fitna mainly shows: Disturbing verses from the Quran mainly on jihad and statements of Islamic radicals.

What Wilders is trying to do is proving to the world that Islam is indeed a religion of terror which in my opinion is irresponsible and so selfish. Read The Full Article!

Politics and Sex

Posted in Agama, Budaya, dan Moral, Articles in English, Dunia dalam Berita, Serba-Serbi Politik by guebukanmonyet on March 24th, 2008

spitzer.jpgThis time, the so-called victim is New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer. On March 10 The New York Times reported that Spitzer had been involved in a prostitution ring. This news finally turned Spitzer into a joke in the American politics.

The Governor had nothing much to say. He tried to look strong and confident but his eyes could not hide his sorrowful emotion and with his wife Silda on his right side he said, “I am deeply sorry that I did not live up to what was expected of me. To every New Yorker and to all those who believed in what I tried to stand for, I sincerely apologize.”

Spitzer, who was once known as Mr. Clean for his efforts to fight against corruption in Wall Street while serving as the New York Attorney General, ended his bright political career. The person who had been projected to be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2012 ended his political career with shame.

Interestingly, David Paterson who took over Spitzer’s position last Monday has admitted that he had extramarital affairs with several different women from 1999 until 2001. His wife has also admitted that she had an affair in the past.

As you know it, Eliot Spitzer is not the first public humiliation in American politics. The most famous political sex scandal in American politics is no doubt the former president Bill Clinton’s affair with his intern Monica Lewinsky. The scandal almost threw Bill Clinton out of the White House.

Several days after the news about his sexual relations broke Bill Clinton gave a famous press conference denying his sexual relations with Lewinsky. He said, “Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again. I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time, never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people. Thank you.”

But, later we found out Bill Clinton actually had done it.

Another famous American political sex scandal is Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey who proudly said, “I’m a gay American.” McGreevey resigned three months later after committing that he had sexual relations with his aide and driver, Teddy Pederson.

It’s Obama’s Time

Posted in Articles in English, Dunia dalam Berita, Serba-Serbi Politik by guebukanmonyet on February 5th, 2008

obama3.jpgI might have been wrong. I might have been wrong when I was writing an article suggesting that it’s time for America to have a female president but it’s not the time for America to have a Black president yet. I suggested that America may be ready to have a female president after more than 200 years of independency but it’s still not ready to have a Black president. I might have been wrong.

Looking at how diverse America is and how the cultural assimilation has been going on for years in America, it’s easy to say that Americans are finally ready to accept a woman to rule their country but not a Black person. It’s easy to say that White Americans would rather vote for a White woman rather than a Black man because although they may prefer a White man ruling their country but it’s still hard to accept a Black man serve the Oval Office, it just doesn’t feel right.

But, that kind of mindset might be too old-fashioned and too racist. That’s wrong. It was the speech of Ted Kennedy when he was announcing his endorsement for Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. when I finally realized that I might have been wrong. America is ready for a Black president, after all. It was such a moving moment to see how Ted Kennedy, John F. Kennedy’s younger brother, delivered his speech and said, “I feel change in the air, what about you?” Ted Kennedy’s speech was one of the most uplifted speeches I’d ever seen and heard in my entire life, and he dedicated it for Barack Obama. It’s Obama’s time.

A few months ago Hillary Clinton was the solid Democratic frontrunner but the latest polls show that Obama is just a few inches away from Hillary Clinton. The race between Clinton and Obama can be one of the tightest Democratic races in the history of American politics. Some political analysts say that Obama has the momentum and they think it’s what it all matters. They claim that if Obama can keep the momentum he might be able to make the path to the White Office. His ability to attract a wide range of people is indeed something extraordinary. His speeches have been called inspiring and his personality has been called charismatic. He is able to attract millions of young Americans who many of them decided not to vote for any candidate in 2004.

Obama is without a doubt extraordinary. Even Oprah Winfrey decided to let some of her female fans upset because she thinks Obama is the right man to lead America. And after Ted Kennedy, Obama is now being backed by John Kerry, John F. Kennedy’s daughter Caroline Kennedy, Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, Maria Shriver, and other influential people. The latest news reports that the largest Spanish-language newspaper in America has decided to endorse Obama, another big boost for his campaign. It is interesting to see how Maria Shriver has decided to support Barack Obama despite the fact that her husband Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is endorsing Republican candidate John McCain. Those people believe that Barack Obama is the man who will keep his promise to bring CHANGE to the American politics if he were elected. Those people believe that Obama will keep his promise to unite the people of America if he were elected.

He’s Black and he’s White, and he thinks he can change America. What about you, do you believe in the kind of change Obama thinks he can do?

Obama: I’m not A Muslim

obama1.jpgBarack Obama has an interesting past and Indonesia is linked within. As the race between Obama and Clinton is heating up, the rumors on Obama’s faith have emerged once again. Some people have been accusing that Obama is a Muslim. They say that Obama went to a madrassa in Jakarta while living with his mother and Indonesian stepfather. Obama’s reaction? He’s damn pissed. Let’s see the fact. Obama’s father was from Kenya and he was raised in a Muslim family but later known as an atheist. Obama’s mother was a white American and she met Obama’s father when they were attending University of Hawaii. Obama’s parents separated when he was just two years old and his mother remarried to an oil manager from Indonesia, Lolo Soetoro. Obama spent four years in Jakarta from age 6 to 10 where he went to a public school for two years and a Catholic school for another two years.

To defend himself from this false allegation Obama has been aggresively showing how Christian he is. During a race campaign he told a cheering crowd, “I’m a Christian and I have been a member of United Church of Christ for years.” Obama’s campaign team is forced to explain the American public that the rumors are not true, that indeed Obama has been a devout Christian. Indonesian Muslims may accuse Americans to be paranoid. But, let’s ask ourselves this question: “Would we vote for a non-Muslim president?” In a country where Muslims are the majority it’s clearly not an easy thing for a non Muslim to become a president. And in a country where Islam is the synonym of terorrism, it’s obviously not a good thing if a presidential candidate is assumed a Muslim by the public. Some Republican candidates actually sell such terms like “radical Islamists” or “Islamic jihad” to get votes, you can blame the former New York city Mayor for this trend. Are you Obama enough?

Ron Paul is My President

Posted in Articles in English, Dunia dalam Berita, Serba-Serbi Politik by guebukanmonyet on June 23rd, 2007

If I were an American I would vote for this guy, no doubt.

I had been having this theory that it was the American foreign policy that was so messed up and it was the reason why America was so hated throughout the world and Ron Paul honestly supported my idea during the second GOP Presidential Debate in South Carolina. During the debate Ron Paul, a congressman from the state of Texas, couragesly pointed his finger at American foreign policy of making terrible blowbacks in foreign nations. Ron Paul said that America should listen to the the people who attacked America about the reason why they did it. Ron Paul suggested that the only reason why America was attacked was because America had been messing around in other countries. A statement that resulted a hot debate with Rudy Rudy Giuliani. But I have to say, Ron Paul beat him. He said, “They don’t come here to attack us because we’re rich and we’re free, they attack us because we’re over there. I mean, what would we think if other foreign countries were doing that to us?” (more…)

The Best Weapon of All Time

(more…)

The Answer is Education

Posted in Dunia dalam Berita by guebukanmonyet on February 13th, 2007
